Roti / Chapati Recipe

Prep Time – 10 mins Cook Time – 10 mins   Servings – 10  from Atta 

Ingredients

  • 3 cup vels Atta
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Warm Water (for kneading)
  • Oil or Clarified Butter

Cooking Directions -

  1. Firstly, in a large bowl take 3 cup vels Atta and 1 tsp salt. mix well.
  2. Now add water as required and knead the dough. using water helps to prepare super soft dough.
  3. Punch the dough and sprinkle water.
  4. Knead the dough until it turns super soft and non-sticky. Approximately 7 minutes of kneading is required.
  5. Now place the dough in an airtight box and grease with 1 tsp oil.
  6. Cover and rest for 20 minutes.

Phulka Preparation:

  1. Knead the dough again and pinch a ball sized dough and roll uniformly.
  2. Dust with wheat flour and roll thinly.
  3. Roll without putting much pressure.
  4. Place the rolled disk on hot tawa. make sure the flame is on medium.
  5. Cook until the base is half cooked. once the base is half cooked, flip over.
  6. Cook fully on the other side.
  7. Now place the half-cooked side on the flame.
  8. Increase the flame until it puffs up.
  9. Turnover and cook both the sides on the flame.
  10. Finally, phulka is ready. Grease with clarified butter( ghee) or oil.
